Humane Society seizes nearly 500 dogs in Montague County
Former THLN board member Don Feare served as a special prosecutor for the State, representing Montague County in what was reportedly the largest dog cruelty seizure in Texas history. Following a five-hour trial, the prosecution was successful in getting all 481 dogs taken from the puppy mill, Heddins Kennel, and given to the Humane Society of North Texas.
They were also successful in securing a judgment of $40,000 against the puppy mill for the shelter's costs in caring for the animals and $525 for the Sheriff's cost in manpower.
We owe a huge THANK YOU to Don Feare for his tremendous efforts!
